History Leroy J. Laporte, Jr., sole member of Laporte Family Properties, has resided in St. Tammany Parish for nearly all his life. For many of those years, he has lived in the Mandeville/Covington area exclusively. Thus, he understands the problems and worries that its residents face and the types of products and services they demand. Mr. Laporte is a native of Louisiana and the Metro New Orleans area and has always worked for his family business, Laporte Plumbing and Heating, Inc. Mr. Laporte took over the family plumbing business which now boasts five generations and has operated very successfully since 1947 – over 60 years! He has ensured that Laporte Plumbing and Heating, Inc., remains synonymous with the highest quality and standards in plumbing to his New Orleans Metro customers. Thereafter, in 1996, Mr. Laporte formed Southern Star Construction Company, Inc., which has operated with great success since it was started. He has performed commercial remodeling for various Wendy's stores, and developed two Garden Home communities on the Northshore. Mr. Laporte has additional projects in Covington, Mandeville, Hammond and New Orleans currently in the works. Mr. Laporte created Laporte Family Properties, LLC to serve as the managing company to lease space in the 10,000 square foot commercial office building that was just completed. The office building is located in an extremely prestigious section of Mandeville – off of West Causeway Approach – only 1.5 miles from the foot of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway.
